An annual blues festival returns to Hertfordshire next month.
The Harpenden Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival will take place at Harpenden Public Halls on Sunday, May 13.
Headlined by The Pretty Things, the festival presents a full day of the best blues, rhythm and rock music around.
Running from 2pm to 10pm at the Southdown Road venue, get a wristband on entry and come and go as much as you like throughout the day.
Legendary British R&B band The Pretty Things were formed in the early 1960s as an offshoot from the Rolling Stones by lead guitarist Dick Taylor.
He’s still with the band today, along with fellow founding member Phil May.
As well as The Pretty Things, the festival line-up also includes Aynsley Lister, Simon McBride, Elles Bailey, the Connor Selby Band, Luke Doherty and his band, and Deep Blue Sea.
Bristol-based Elles seamlessly weaves rootsy blues, country and soulful rock with a contemporary edge and her trademark ‘smoky vocals’.
Musically, Connor takes inspiration from most of the British players that emerged in the 1960s, citing Eric Clapton as his first and current major influence, putting particular emphasis on his output with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and Cream.
Luke Doherty is a young blues guitarist who is rapidly making a name for himself on the blues scene, having been gigging since the age of 12 in various blues clubs around the country.
Deep Blue Sea play upbeat 21st century blues, fronted by the singer Muzz, who has a soulful voice with a huge range.
Tickets for the festival cost £25.
