A week is a long time in football and that was proven by Mermaid in the Hertfordshire 1961 Sunday League Premier Division.

One week on from their 12-0 loss to Strafford Arms, they picked up their second win of the season by beating Phoenix 4-3.

William McClelland got two and Josh Jordan and Harrison Wasnock one each. The Phoenix goals were scored by Jack Nevin (two) and Wilson Mendes.

Following two defeats Brookmans Park got back to winning ways when completing the double over Welwyn Warriors.

The 3-1 success was secured by Adam Page, Ashley Rex and Fraser Bolton with Matthew Taiwo scoring for Warriors.

Borehamwood Rovers gained revenge over Six Bells for a defeat earlier in the season by winning 3-0 with goals from Harley-Jack Fonti, Florent Bojaj and Jack Allen.

Division One table toppers BWSC made it five wins from five when defeating new boys 6 of Herts 3-1. Alex Garvey led the way with two goals and Jake Macintosh got one.

Jordan Ellis replied for the Herts.

AFC Boots recorded their biggest win of the season when defeating Royston Rangers 7-1 in Division Two.

The unstoppable Curtis Dibley hit four goals with two from George Kershaw and one for Eddie Chisholm. The Rangers goal came from Giovani Crivello.

Harpenden Colts OB defeated Crown 4-1 thanks to goals from Dan Bradley, Jamie Jones, Oliver Lacey and Josh Jones. Declan Jackson netted for Crown.

St George made it five wins from six games when defeating Pinewood 3-2.

The goals came from Kyri Apostolou, Phill Benard and Stephen Dorer. George Milsted and Jordan Carter replied for Pinewood.

In Division Three, Herts Vets made it five wins on the trot by beating TNF 2-0 with goals from ace marksman Liam Addlesee and Dale Jenkins.

Welwyn Warriors Res picked up an excellent 3-2 victory over Leverstock Green CC with goals
from Alex Acklam, Tim Chesworth and Dan Etienne. Kieran Shepherd replied for the Green.

Division Four saw Hatfield Comets put in one of their best displays of the season to defeat Phoenix A 3-1 with goals from Casey Zwager (two) and Zlatko Murphy.

Sam McCord scored the lone Phoenix goal.

Unbeaten league leaders Hopfields completed the double over London Colney United.

They won 4-1 with a double from Will Orridge and one each from Neil Tallant and George Wallis.

It was sweet revenge for Monday Night FC as they beat Hatfield Seniors 8-2, the biggest of their two wins this year.

Adetoye Kolaru hit a hat-trick, the first from the club to do so this season while there was two each from Steven Wright and Tshepo La-Elohim Khara.

The Seniors scorers were Tyler Buxcey and Simon Fisher.

In the Jim Lynch Trophy, Division Two league leaders Saints pulled off a fine performance and a shock to send Division One title chasers Six Bells Res out.

James Lawrence (two) and Laurence Wilson scored in a 3-1 win, Oscar Gibbon replying for the Bells.

The 1961 Intermediate Cup saw the outstanding Kai Takahashi score four goals for Marshalswick Rovers in their 5-0 win against Brookmans Park Res.

Jack Messan was their other scorer.

In a closely fought match, Wheathampstead 89 just edged home 4-3 against Royston Rangers Res in the 1961 Junior Cup, with goals from Colin Arnsby, Charlie Gilroy and a brace from Chris Dunn.

Taylor Jeggo and Billy Smith scored two of Rangers goals.

Alban Dynamo Res had to fight hard to overcome Little Heath Sunday 5-4 in the 1961 Reserve Cup.

Four of Dynamo’s goals came from a Louis Batston hat-trick plus a Leo Collier single.
