St Albans City will give someone a real hammering soon insists manager David Noble - after another frustrating draw in National League South.

A goal from Ken Charles gave Saints a 1-0 lead away to Weymouth in National League South but like their midweek match at home to Chelmsford City, which also ended 1-1, they were hit by a late equaliser.

This one came in the 86th minute, Calvin Brooks scrambling it in after a corner was not cleared.

It also left the boss shaking his head.

Picture: JIM STANDEN (Image: Jim Standen) We're right on the cusp with this team," said the boss. "Teams we play against praise us and it is difficult [to hear that] when you're not coming away with three points.

"But I feel we're very close from clicking and giving teams a hammering.

"It was a good performance but with only a point to show for it, it is frustrating.

"It felt like a lot of our games this year. It was such domination, especially in the first half.

"They came out, like we expected, and had a 10 minute spell in the second half where we were ragged and lacking structure.

"We rode that, got a goal and then we concede a sort of comical goal from a set-piece. It hits the back of one of our heads, one of our players slips and we concede.

"We didn't have people turning on each other in there but there was a bit of emotion about to be shown and we need to stick together.

"We are a team that is so close to being good and it was a good performance but with only a point to show for it, it is frustrating."

The point means both Saints and Weymouth remain in the relegation places, the bottom four of the division.

Both have 12 points from 16 games and are three behind Bath and safety.

And even though this has made it four games unbeaten, one win and three draws, Noble knows that they have to start racking up the victories soon.

"I would take any sort of performance to get three points," he admitted, " but we should be going one or two goals up at half-time here.

"It's been the story that when we're dominating games, 80 or 90 per cent of games we've played this season, we don't score when we are [on top].

"Typically in football, you get punished for that.

"For us to only be 1-0 up with how we've played for long periods, it just felt inevitable what happened.

"Weymouth are tied with us but their last results, they've beaten Dorking, they've drawn with Worthing and Weston, Mark [Molesey] is a good manager and he had them organised.

"So to be as good as we were in that first half, was very pleasing.

"It was a pleasure to watch but we're not putting the ball in the back of the net.

"We have a game-plan every week and this was one of the first times we have really won the ball back in the opposition half and put them under pressure.

"We were very good in and out of possession."

Saints now turn their attentions to the FA Trophy and a home game with Basford United of the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
