St Albans City bowed out of the Women's FA Cup but Colney Heath and Harpenden Town continued to take massive strides forward in the league.
Saints went down 2-0 away to Luton Town in the third qualifying round, the Hatters setting up a trip to Hutton in the first round proper.
But elsewhere the Magpies and Harps are doing a fine job in keeping their hopes of joining City in the Eastern Region Premier Division next season alive.
Heath made it seven wins out of nine to stay top of Division One South.
They beat Wormley Rovers 3-1 with goals from Samaira Khan (two) and Cally Salter, keeping them two points above Southend United.
Harpenden meanwhile are still unbeaten in Division One North following an eighth win in their nine matches.
It came courtesy of a 4-0 success over Real Bedford Res at Rothamsted Park, putting them 11 points clear of AFC Dunstable and Histon, although having played two games more than the pair of them.
It was the third game in a row where they have scored four and remarkably, for the first time this season, top scorer Sophia Amanor wasn't one of them.
They took the lead on seven minutes, Jaime Curtain robbing a defender before racing into the box and supplying a cool finish.
There were plenty of chances in between but it was Rebecca McShane who made it 2-0, finishing well after a pull-back from Curtain.
Sophie Harris had to push away a stinging shot from Lily Gladstone and then block the follow-up effort from Millie Proctor.
But Harps still went forward, Belle Shannon hitting the post before she stuck her head on a McShane corner on the stroke of half-time for 3-0.
The second half provided no let-up as the green and yellow attacks kept coming.
Amanor crashed a shot into the side netting and then had an effort pushed onto the crossbar by Brooke Mapp.
The top scorer's big chance seem to have arrived when she was brought down in the box.
However, as she had treatment, she was sent to the sidelines and it meant responsibility for the kick fell to Chloe Dinsey who made no mistake.
