St Albans Striders take in Sydney, Copenhagen and Hatfield

Those with the wandering bug included Steve Buckle who took on the Sydney Marathon.

That was also the venue for the Age Grade World Championship and Buckle managed to come home a hugely creditable 57th overall in two hours 34 minutes 57 seconds, good enough for fifth in the MV40 group.

Anna Silkstone was completing a half marathon on foreign shores, running the Copenhagen Half in 1:51:24, part of her final build-up towards the Chicago Marathon.

Jack Brooks meanwhile was doing 13.1 miles in the UK at the Abersoch Half.

Three Striders were part of the field at the delayed English National Cross-country Championships.

Postponed earlier in the year due to waterlogged grounds, conditions at Weston Park near Telford were ideal with Catherine O’Conner finishing 41st out of 266 in the ladies race, Louise Bentham 92nd, and Mark Stevens 369th out of 529 in the men's event.

Stevens was also on the track in Battersea for the Veterans Athletics Club 10k Championships, as was Matt Cooper.

And he secured a PB of 39:51:36, dipping under the 40-minute mark for the first time and three whole minutes better than 12 months ago.

Cooper meanwhile set a club V40 record with 33:31:27, taking first place on the night.

Back home, the third and final round of the Hatfield 5k Series saw several Striders pick up
awards.

Lily Seach was third female across the series, Kate Dixon third in the FV45 group and Max Campbell the first MV60 runner.

Striders' women also came second in the team event, their trio made up of Seach, Dixon and Helen Cartlidge.

Sunday took the club en masse to the Sandridge 10k.

Patrick Hawker and Freya Weddell both took wins on the trails with James Bryden (second), Jonathan Scott (third) and Rob Smith (fifth) making it near total domination from Striders at the finish.
