Harpenden Town surrendered a late lead to slip out of the Women's FA Cup in the first qualifying round.

Playing at home to Biggleswade United, they were quickly 2-0 down, Kayleigh Gray getting both, before they mounted a comeback.

A Jaime Curtain allowed Sophia Amanor to turn her marker and shoot into the bottom corner and she got her second soon after, Erin Shacklock with the cross this time.

Gray completed her hat-trick in the second half but that was cancelled out by Jasmine Hughes after good work by Amanor and Leah Shellard.

A Belle Shannon corner allowed Amanor to score her hat-trick and put Harpenden in front for the first time and that seemed to be that.

But with just seconds left, Ruth Fox equalised for Biggleswade to send the match to penalties.

And only Shannon scored for Harpenden as Biggleswade  scored all four of theirs to go through to a tie with St Albans City 4-1.

Harpenden will look for instant redemption when they go to Biggleswade on Sunday for a Division One North clash in the Eastern Region League.

Their last league game on Thursday was a far much happier time, beating Stevenage Res 5-0 at Letchworth.

Rebecca McShane set up Amanor for the first and Ira Hrisimova made it two by bundling in a McShane corner.

It became 3-0 early in the second period, McShane adding to her assists, and the fourth belonged to Chloe Dinsey, yet another McShane corner proving fruitful.

Amanor's back-heel wrapped up the scoring from the usual avenue, McShane finishing with a goal and four assists.

St Albans City ladies maintained their 100 per cent record in the Eastern Region Premier Division, beating Bowers & Pitsea

Terri Harvey, Olivia Syson, Chloe Timms and Kiera Ward got the goals in a 4-1 success.

They are second in the table and will face the only other side with three wins from three, Royston Town, at Clarence Park on Sunday.

In Division One South, Colney Heath ladies are two from two, the second being a very impressive 2-1 success  at home to Southend United.

Emily Pert had put the Shrimpers 1-0 up but with five minutes to go, Holly Rossington hit a superb volley into the top corner to make it 1-1.

A minute later and Heath snatched all three points, a solo run from Bora Cela ended with her going round the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.

The Magpies men were equally seemingly heading to a 2-1 victory late on at home to Potton United in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

They had fallen behind when Reece Crowter had curled a free kick around the defensive wall with ease on 29 minutes but Colney struck back midway through the second period.

Lee Dykes got the goal, latching on to a nod down from Jamie Fulton, and with four minutes to go Chad King fired them in front, Fulton again providing the assist, this time from a corner.

However, Potton drew level when a loose ball in the box was tucked away by Jordan Brown and they the lead a minute later when Charlie Clark chipped the ball over the advancing Connor Sansom.

Colney still could have rescued a draw when a low George Hughes cross across the six-yard box found Billy Owen but his low drive brushed the outside of the far post with all the goal to aim at.

Colney Heath U18s did have success though in the FA Youth Cup as they beat Bishop's Stortford 3-1 with goals from Francis Tortora, Finn Carpenter and Sam Gower.
