Andy Jordan turned back the clock when he stepped back onto the track at Tooting Bec.
The St Albans Striders athlete had not raced there for seven years when he completed around 550 laps, or a little more than 220k.
His return was for the 2024 London Masters Open Championships and in stark contrast to race distances that are measured in hundreds of laps, he was there this time to compete in the 400m, 800m and 1500m races.
He medaled in the two shorter distances while his time of four minutes 58.80 seconds is a Striders M60 club record and was just a second behind Clare Elms from Kent AC who set a new W60 world record.
All that followed a 5k run at Hatfield where he was first in his age category with a time of 18:20.
The race was the first in the popular 5k series with this initial event incorporating the Herts Senior Champs which boosted the size of the field.
The Striders were well represented and secured silver in the men’s team event and bronze in the female one.
First man home was George Booth in fourth with Callum Bond (10th), Chris Dennell (13th) and Jonathan Scott (18th).
Lily Seach took sixth for the ladies, Florence Thwaites eighth and Emily Hodgson 12th.
