Harpenden Town's reward for reaching the first qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in 36 years is another home game.

They will play Southern League Premier Division Central side St Ives Town at Rothamsted Park on August 31.

Harps got to the same stage in the 1999 competition but only needed to win one match that time, a 3-2 success at home to Burnham before bowing out 3-1 at Banbury United.

This time they have won twice, a 3-1 success in the extra-preliminary round a dramatic success at home to FC Romania on Saturday.

The preliminary round match was heading towards a replay with the scores tied at 0-0 deep into stoppage time.

But a corner from the right was swung into the far post where Alfie Osbourne stole in unmarked to head the winner.

Manager Micky Nathan was understandably thrilled.

He said: "We had a copious amount of chances and should have been out of sight. Four or five would not have been flattering.

"But to score a 98th minute winner and see the scenes at the end and the celebrations with the fans, it was what the FA Cup is all about.

"It's the biggest cup competition in the world and it is part of football history in the country, always has been and always will be.

"To be a part of it at any level is phenomenal and to go into another round is excellent.

"We've had some tough fixtures in the league but this is a massive statement in what we are about and how we work. We worked exceptionally hard.

"And we've got good quality all over the pitch, from the keepers to the forwards."

Back in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, Harps had slipped to 12th after one win and two draws in their four matches so far.

Colney Heath, however, are still unbeaten after five and sit third in the standings with three wins and two draws.

Their latest game was a 1-0 win at home to Kempston Rovers with Jamie Fulton's free-kick deciding the outcome.

Colney had carved out the better openings in the first half but it was the visitors who should have gone into the break in front.

They were given a penalty just before the interval after a handball by Sam Denham.

Rafal Wielblad took it and had it heading towards the bottom corner until Heath goalkeeper Ryan Hillard pushed it round the post.

The second period was again missing out and out opportunities so Fulton decided to create one himself.

From a central position on 65 minutes, he curled the ball to the left of the wall and inside the post.

Tejon Brown was having another good game and was close with a shot that narrowly beat the post of Kempston keeper Kacper Kurylowicz.

Lee Dykes meanwhile saw one of his shots cleared away and Brown sent another effort into the side netting.

It didn't matter though as the Magpies clinched the victory.

Division One saw London Colney beaten 4-2 at home to Irchester United.
