The latest county swimming galas for schools brought a very familiar tale - victories and super performances for St Albans District Schools.

Both the primary schools' team and their secondary counterparts lifted the 2024 Hertfordshire Schools Inter-District Swimming Championships.

The primary schools swept the board, winning all available trophies, including each of the Year 5 and 6 boys' and girls' age groups.

They also won the overall Rose Bowl trophy, convincingly beating Watford and other Hertfordshire districts.

The team, led by captains Olivia Daniel and Charles Hallam, won 10 out of 16 individual races, including all freestyle events and the nine relay races.

Team Manager Andrew Ellis said: "Taking home more than half of the available medals underlies the incredible depth in St Albans District swimming.

"This is now the sixth win in a row for the St Albans District primary teams at the Herts champs."

The St Albans District secondary schools team were also successful in winning overall at their Hertfordshire championships.

Captains Oksana Wojcik-Jardzioch and Nathanial Mapley led the team to three wins in six of the age groups and win in more than half of the relays.

And on an individual level, Angus Cheng, broke a seven-year-old record in the junior boys' freestyle.

Ellis added: "It has certainly been an outstanding year for the St Albans District schools swimmers."
