There were a number of proud moments and impressive achievements from members of St Albans Striders.
On Friday evening five Striders made their way to London for a series of increasingly fast, high quality races in the Finsbury Park 5,000m event.
The highlight of the evening was a wonderfully accomplished run by George Booth who won his race in a PB of 15 minutes 49 seconds, his first time under 16 minutes and a phenomenal run considering the pacer dropped out with 2k to go, leaving him to run the rest of the race solo.
Chris Dennell also ran well coming third in his race in 16:34, with Matt Nicholson, Paul Stack and Adam Herron also securing very respectable performances of 17:07, 17:58 and 20:39 respectively.
There were also some fantastic milestones achieved elsewhere.
Jack Brooks completed his 600th marathon/ultra, and 200th different UK and British Isles marathon/ultra, as he ran at the Cannock Chase Forest Trail Marathon, finishing in a time of 7:11:34.
He described the race as brutal due to over 3,000 ft of elevation gain and a surface comprising of sand and loose stones.
Andrew Maher and Clair Drage were thrilled to have successfully completed their 75th marathon at the Denbies marathon in Dorking, clocking 5:13:50 and 5:54:51.
Kate Tettmar and Steve Scorer travelled to the Arctic Circle to take part in the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromsø, Norway.
In perfect weather, there was a full sun for the 8:30pm start and all through the night with the route covering many incredible sights.
Scorer finished third in his age category in 3:15:59 and Tettmar completed the course in 4:56:35.
Jethro Offemaria was alone in flying the flag for the Striders at the Rutland 10k on Sunday and was delighted with his time of 1:26:20, a reflection of his focus and hard work in preparation for the race.
