The spring marathon season is well and truly underway and runners from St Albans Striders and St Albans Athletics Club have been enjoying some of the first big offerings.
Members of Striders were among the 20,000 competitors at the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
Ivan Ghouse completed the route in blustery conditions in one hour 33 minutes 31 seconds and was followed in by Striders' first female, Nicky Laitner completing the course in 1.38.10.
She was fourth in her age category while Peter Blackaller (1:46:49) was third in his.
John Selby (2:00:54) and Milley Cherry (2:11:21) were also involved while others headed off to mainland Europe.
Alexandra Kett got a PB of 3:14:23 at the Paris Marathon where she was joined by team-mates Carla Mosely (3:38:34), Spencer Grant (3:47:27), Laura Mitchell (4:11:29) and Abigael Lewis (4:44:43).
Anna Silkstone recorded 1:49:08 in the half marathon in Prague while Errol and Jenny Maginley finished the Belin half in 1:31:07 and 1:34:50.
Kate Tettmar went for a longer run, completing the 50k trail Ultra Challenge around Windsor, Dorney and the Thames Path in a personal best.
Two of AC's members, who have risen from U11s to the seniors, took on marathon challenges.
Ben Pattison ran an easy 2.54 really enjoying the whole experience at Brighton while Hannah Carruthers clocked 3.17 in Paris.
