It was a busy weekend for St Albans Athletics Club and St Albans Striders over a variety of distances and surfaces.
It began with Andrew Shaw setting a PB of 17 minutes seven seconds in front of a Ferris wheel full of spectators. He was running in the Last Friday of the Month 5k in Hyde Park.
The main event was the Liverpool Cross Challenge in Sefton Park where James McMurray raced against some of the best 1500m athletes in the country in the short course race.
He was part of the front five that were separated by just five seconds, the St Albans man in fifth.
Archie Marshall and Sophie Jacobs took part in the U20 and U17 race and picked up finishing positions of 117th place and 19th female.
Keira Stern joined her training squad from Loughborough and she finished in 71st place, whilst new member Telfer Gray finished in 187th out of more than 700 athletes.
