The youngsters of St Albans Athletics Club got their winter activities off to a flying start with a medal-winning performance at the South of England Road Relays.
Held in Aldershot, the event featured teams spread from Cornwall to Southend and Brighton to Bedford.
And the St Albans club's U15 boys' team reached the podium by clinching silver.
The trio of Josh Hirst, Luke Carlin and Oscar Nagalingam all finished their 3km legs inside 10 minutes, Hirst slightly the quicker in nine minutes 37 seconds.
The club could also field a B team in the age group - Sam, Lucas and Jacob - and they did the same in the U13s.
Edward Goodwin, Conor Treloar and Isaac Gibson-Dunt finished in an impressive fifth position while Zac Jones, Jonah McNaught and Joseph McGrath were 15th out of 63 teams.
Georgia Tongue, Emma Treloar and Lily Kennedy moved up an age group to the U15s this year and came 30th from 63.
The older U17 woman’s team was made up of Sophie Jacobs, Beckie Cray and Phoebe Gill to finish eighth out of 47 while the U17 men of Rhys Bethell, Matthews Nichols and Tom Bailey were 33rd from 68.
The club also fielded a senior side in both the men's and women's race.
