Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Amy Platten took another big move towards selection for the Paris 2024 Olympics with another medal on the international stage.
The 21-year-old from St Albans was on the other side of the world competing at the Oceanic Open in Perth, Australia, and she continued her good form from the summer by reaching the final.
Along the way she defeated the Argentinian top seed before losing to the now American, former world medalist from Cuba, in the third minute of the extra-time golden score period.
More importantly it lifted her to 23rd in the qualification places for Paris, with the top 25 eventually being invited.
Platten said: "I am really happy with my performance. I fought hard for the gold but just couldn't score.
"This has given me a confidence boost though as I can still make improvements in my technique and tactics.
"And the points have given me a great base to get into and stay in the Paris Olympics qualification place."
Platten still has a training camp in Denmark to come this year before the British Championships in December.
