Harpenden Town were left heartbroken as their run in the FA Vase came to a late and sticky end.
They were beaten 3-2 by fellow Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division St Panteleimon at Rothamsted Park, the Hertford-based visitors bagging the winner in added time.
It had been excellent viewing for those watching on and the entertainment began in the 10th minute when Josh Setchell pounced on a mistake by the visitors to put them in front.
Billy Owen also went close in the first half while at the other end, Alex Desmond was in inspired form with a number of good saves.
The Harps keeper was beaten after the interval though, twice in six minutes as Panteleimon went into the final 19 minutes in front.
Josh Rodrigues equalised though, bundling the ball home and that looked to be good enough to take the match to a penalty shoot-out until Harps' hearts were broken.
Managerless Colney Heath found in-form Stotfold too good with the Eagles picking up a 2-0 win in the league at the Recreation Ground.
It was another game which was crammed full of positives for the Magpies but where once again lady luck didn't want to play ball.
Trailing to a Daniel Sears goal in the second half, a fine strike from Karmel El-Maghur beat the keeper but not the far post, striking the upright and rebounding back out.
Stotfold have been in fine form recently, and a 3-1 midweek victory at home to London Colney made it 11 games unbeaten with five straight wins.
They are now second.
They started well on Saturday too, Codi-Lee Spavins just wide of Harry Maloret's goal but Colney created chances of their own through James Samways and Hadley Gleeson.
That set the pattern for the first half with Jack McShane and George Sippetts also going close for Heath.
Stotfold took the lead on 55 minutes with Sears having two bites at Jordan Stevenson's corner before finding the net.
El-Maghur's effort off the woodwork was part of a concerted effort by the home side to equalise, Solomon Dawodu firing just wide as well.
But as the clock moved into injury time, along kick downfield by keeper Liam Gooch ended with Maloret fouling Archie Sayer and Josh Bamford converted the penalty.
Evan Napier got the only goal for Colney Heath Res as they were beaten 4-1 at Hatfield Town in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division.
St Albans City Youth's season continues at pace with plenty of good results.

Harefield pulled two goals back but Eliza Telford secured the three points with a fifth.
