Harpenden Bowling Club had a great weekend at their club finals with some extremely exciting matches.
The ladies championship was decided in a see-saw affair, Linda Brooks taking the win over Beryl Driscoll after numerous one-point ends, while Doug Rodger and Trevor Tharby won the men's pairs against Rob Newby and John Millins by just one point.
A spokesman for the club said: "Catering and refreshments were welcomed by club members who appreciated the hard work put in by Alison, Lyn, Nick and numerous helpers.
"The competition programme over the weekend was perfectly put together by Tony Redford and the green played excellently, all due to Kevin, Keith and all contributors."
St Albans' Linda Burfield, Sally Griffiths and Brenda Pitkin performed very well to finish second out of 22 teams in the Ladies' District Benevolent Triples Gala.
Held at Harperbury, they finished one point behind winners Harpenden.
Pitkin continued her fine form at the club finals, winning five titles across mixed and ladies' competitions.
Maralyn Pomeroy beat Clare Orchard for the ladies' championship while Phil Macarthur won the men's event against Mike Pitkin.
