Harpenden Junior Ross Lea cruised to a four-shot victory in the first Futures Tour event of the season, hosted by Redbourn Golf Club.
Run by Herts County Golf, the tournament for players under 12 comprises seven events over the season.
There were 93 young hopefuls in the field at Redbourn. Ten-year-old Lea, who has a Tour handicap of six, finished the nine-hole course four over par.
Lea’s potential has been spotted and he was recently invited to join the Herts County Golf Academy where he is in the “Breaking 95” squad. His success is not limited to Hertfordshire. His mother was from Aberdeenshire and this time last year he had the best net score in the Junior Spring meeting at Ballater Golf Club on Royal Deeside.
