A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of 96 bottles of Baileys worth £2,000, which were taken from a Harpenden high street shop.
The alcohol haul worth £2,107.20 was stolen from the High Street Sainsbury’s in Harpenden on November 17 and November 18.
The suspect, arrested in a vehicle suspected of being involved in two shoplifting offences, is due to appear at St Albans Magistrates Court on Tuesday (December 3).
The vehicle was spotted and stopped by Harpenden neighbourhood policing officers on the B197 Great North Road on November, 18.
Riyas Zafeer, 41, of Littlefield Road in Edgeware, was travelling in the vehicle at the time and was promptly arrested. He has been charged with two shoplifting offences.
A dedicated team of plain clothed and high-visibility officers have been working with security staff at shops in Harpenden and the rest of the St Albans district to target known prolific offenders and opportunist thieves.
