Homelessness charity Emmaus Hertfordshire’s patrons, Lord Charles Cecil and Lady Virginia Cecil, hosted a 'thank you' lunch at The Old Palace in Hatfield Park on Friday.

The lunch was an opportunity for the charity to thank some of the people they work with for their ongoing support, and a chance for them to hear first-hand, how that support has changed the lives of people they have helped.

Emmaus Hertfordshire offers people who have faced homelessness a home, tailored support, companionship, and work opportunities.

Speaking at the lunch about their own experiences with homelessness, and how the charity had helped transform their lives, were Ben and Graham.

Emmaus Hertfordshire chief executive, Duncan Lewis, said: “A heartfelt thank you to our patrons Lord and Lady Cecil for hosting a wonderful lunch in the stunning surroundings of The Old Palace.

“It was an honour and a privilege to have lunch in such an historic and fascinating location and be given the opportunity to thank our supporters for their vital contributions to our charity – we just couldn’t do it without them.

“Thanks also to companion Ben and former companion Graham for bravely sharing their personal stories, highlighting the positive impact our charity has on the lives of people affected by homelessness.

“We look forward to continuing working in partnership with our valued supporters and to making a difference to those experiencing homelessness across Hertfordshire.”

Emmaus Hertfordshire extended a big thank you to the following supporters who attended the event:

  • Annie Brewster JP – High Sheriff of Hertfordshire
  • CPL Aromas
  • Laing Family Trusts
