There was a brilliant display of humanity this morning on the a St Albans A-road as drivers came together, or parted, to help the emergency services.
Amid the snowfall this morning, commuters on the A4147 stopped in their tracks to form a line on either side of the carriageway.
But why? Unfortunately, a fire engine was stuck behind traffic on the icy road carefully navigating its way to an emergency.
The drivers' joint manoeuvre allowed the fire engine to pass through and make its way up the road in a sign of winter unity.
A witness told The Herts Advertiser: "This morning I approached the A4147 and all I could hear was the sirens and horn of a fire truck for a very long time.
"When I finally crossed the bridge, I could see everyone working together, building an emergency line!
"Well done everyone!
"Closer to the roundabout, the fire truck got stuck again, as people did not move. Sad really."
