Supermarket giant Tesco has released its new Christmas advert for 2024, and some of the buildings may seem familiar.
In September, the city centre was flooded with camera equipment as Tesco came to town to shoot one of its iconic festive advertisements.
The Boot pub was of particular interest, as it transformed into The Gingerbread Arms, complete with fake snow and gingerbread boarding.
Cherry pickers were also spotted outside the entrance to Christopher Place Shopping Centre and by the Clock Tower.
This morning, Tesco premiered its advert on social media and eagle-eyed viewers may spot the town centre at 1:33.
The advert itself follows the story of "Gary", a bereaved man grieving the loss of his grandmother.
Following a trip to visit his grandfather he is gifted some Tesco gingerbread men.
One bite in, and the world suddenly starts turning into baked goods. The houses are gingerbread, the trees are gingerbread. Even the stray foxes are gingerbread.
What seems to be a Christmas paradise plays out to the tune of Gorillaz’s 'On Melancholy Hill'.
With reminders of his grandmother on his phone's memories, all is not sweet in Gary's gingerbread paradise, as he is then filmed coming out of The Boot - or The Gingerbread Arms - and heads out onto Market Place.
A wide-shot of St Albans pointing towards the Clock Tower depicts a Christmas buzz, featuring a gingerbread man rocking questionable attire in a billboard advert.
Unfortunately, this marks the end of the city's cameo.
To combat his grief, Gary and his grandad revive their tradition of constructing a gingerbread house together - a structure that becomes the centrepiece of their Christmas celebration.
The heart-warming advert finishes with a feeling of hope with the slogan "Helping feed our Christmas spirit".
