A Harpenden school is planning for a new two-storey Sixth Form block to aid a growing demand for pupils.
A proposal for the new teaching block has been submitted by Barker Associates Ltd on behalf of Katherine Warington School.
Under the plans, the new building will feature a "dedicated social space" on the first floor with an outdoor terrace, study space and smaller "quiet study area".
A further three general teaching classrooms will be on the ground floor alongside toilets, office space, kitchenette, storage and plant room.
The application also features a lift and a fully DDA compliant WC on the ground floor.

In a supporting statement the applicant said: "The proposed development seeks to deliver the much-needed new Sixth Form building to accommodate the evidence need for such provision in the locality."
It also claims the proposal would not impact "existing teaching spaces".
Like other institutions across the district, the secondary school is expecting pupil growth, with a further 124 students expected to join the Sixth Form by September 2025.
Currently, the plan is under public consultation and is subject comments until Saturday, November 7.
