A new "wood-fired artisan pizza" shop is opening near St Albans city centre.

Pizzayo's is coming soon to Victoria Street, moving into the unit previously occupied by a short-lived coffee shop and Smart Tech.

The Instagram account suggests that the new spot will provide pizza, coffee and wine.

Crafted with the freshest ingredients, baked in a traditional stone oven, and enhanced with creative twists, our pizzas will offer a taste like no other.

"While our doors aren’t open yet, we’re excited to welcome you very soon. Stay tuned and be the first to know about our grand opening! In just a short while, you'll be able to enjoy delicious moments with your loved ones in our warm and inviting atmosphere."

In a supporting statement the applicant said: "The proposed pizza oven presents an innovative solution to modern cooking challenges while prioritising environmental considerations.

"This design not only enhances the culinary experience but also promotes a sustainable and healthy kitchen environment."

Plans are currently under consultation and open to public comments until December 7.

The Victoria Street property also had an application for a new shopfront approved in May of this year.
