A man has been jailed after he left his victim with a broken jaw following an attack outside a Hertfordshire pub.

Carl Anthony Williams was jailed for 18 months at Luton Crown Court last Friday (November 1) after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm.

On Christmas Eve in 2022, the 33-year-old, of Box Crescent in Houghton Regis, was in The Jubilee pub in Hemel Hempstead when he had a verbal altercation with his victim in the toilet.

As the victim left the pub, he was approached by Williams who punched him to the face several times, causing him to fall to the floor.

The victim sustained a broken jaw which required surgery.

An investigation was launched by the Dacorum Local Crime Unit, leading to Williams being identified as the suspect through CCTV footage.

He was arrested and later charged following further enquiries.

Detective Constable Aneta Bekteshi, who led the investigation, said: "The victim’s injuries were so severe that he needed a metal plate inserted into his jaw.

"There is no excuse for violent crime in our community and we’ll always ensure we do everything we can to identify offenders and bring them before the courts."
