Mandolin orchestra Phoenix Mandolins will perform their fourth end-of-year concert in St Albans this November.

Phoenix Mandolins was formed in February 2020, as a result of merging the last two mandolin groups north of London - Hatfield Banjo Mandolin Guitar Group and Watford Plectra Orchestra - now under the directorship of Ros Asher, an associate of the Royal College of Music.

The end-of-year concert will take place at St Paul's Church in St Albans from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, November 16.

The concert will feature Helen Skelton on the recorder and flute, sounds which blend well with plucked instruments such as the mandolin and guitar.

Helen will perform as a soloist in Vivaldi's 'La Tempesta di Mare' concerto, which gives the impression of a storm.

The programme also features well-known pieces including 'Funiculì, Funiculà', 'Three Little Maids' and 'Stormy Weather'.
