St Albans motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Five of these are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M1, from 10pm October 21 to 6am November 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M1 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6A, carriageway and entry slip road closure for resurfacing works, diversion via Local Authorities.

A further seven closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M1, from 10pm October 28 to 5am October 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M25 Anticlockwise, junction 21A to junction 21 and M1 southbound, junction 6A to junction 6, Lane and link road closure for Urgent Technology repairs, diversion via National Highways and Local Authorities.

• M25, from 10pm October 29 to 5am October 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M25 Anticlockwise, junction 22 to junction 21A, Lane and hard shoulder closure for Technology works,, Lane and 22:00-05:00 hrs lane 1,2,3 closure anti-clockwise with a splitter and merge detail at, junction 22 for technology works.

• M25, from 10pm October 31 to 5.30am November 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M25 anti clockwise, junction 23 to junction 21, Lane closures, slip road closures and carriageway closure for maintenance works, diversion via local authority roads.

• A414, from 9pm November 4 to 6am November 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A414 eastbound, Watford Road over bridge to Park Street roundabout - lane closure for trail hole works on behalf of Volker Fitzpatrick.

• A405, from 10pm November 4 to 5am November 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M1 northbound, junction 6 to junction 8 - carriageway closure, lane closures and diversion routes for communications on behalf of National Highways.

• A414, from 10pm November 5 to 5am November 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A414 both directions, Park Street Roundabout to Breakspear Way Roundabout - carriageway closures, lane closures and diversion routes for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

• M1, from 10pm November 7 to 5am November 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 northbound,, junction 6 to junction 7 - lane closures due to electrical works on behalf of Ringway.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
