A St Albans pub near the high street is looking for a new tenant once again, after being put on the market by the Stonegate group.

The Peacock on Hatfield Road is one of St Albans' many pubs per square mile, but it has become a revolving door in recent years.

Following a "temporary closure" earlier this year the pub planned to reopen August 31.

The free house remains shut however, and a sign in the window reads "closed for refurbishment".

The Stonegate Group has now relisted the property to let for £673 per week, forecasting an annual turnover of £396,702.

A description on Stonegate's website says: "The Peacock in St Albans is a fantastic opportunity with a lot to offer! The Peacock has been recently refurbished both inside and out to a very high standard."

The pub has approximately 80 covers and the outside area can seat a further 100 people on its Astroturf base.

Known for it live sports and food offering, The Peacock has seen immense popularity during international football tournaments as well as weekend matches in the past.

Its location, close to the high street, makes the pub an opportunity for any landlord too. Although, any future tenant will have to compete with other pubs nearby, including The Mermaid, Blacksmiths Arms and The Cock.

In regard to the living accommodation, the website suggests that it is "suitable for a family" with two double bedrooms and one single bedroom. Also included, is a sitting room, separate kitchen and bathroom, which have been recently refurbished.
