A Harpenden secondary school has celebrated the opening of its new Sixth Form.
Katherine Warington School welcomed the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster, to officially inaugurate KWSixth on October 4.
She praised their pupils' outstanding GCSE results and commended them as the school's first cohort, having been at the school since Year 7.
Sharing her own experiences, Annie noted she is only the 14th woman to hold her prestigious title and the first woman ever to carry a sword in her position.
Her speech was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the official opening of the Sixth Form, before joining the whole school Celebration Assembly.
Katherine Warington School is now looking forward to welcoming prospective students at the KWSixth open evening, scheduled for January 14.
