Plans have been submitted for five new flats to be added to an existing building in St Albans.
If approved, the new flats would be created by extensions to the rear and side of 12 Springfield Road.
The site is used for six single person bedsits, with the new flats forming an addition to the complex.
In a letter supporting the plans, applicant Mr A. Aslam writes: "This proposal seeks to upgrade the existing property into six self contained modern units that will provide a high standard in an area of high demand.
"The location of the property is ideally suited for commuters who travel into London, with the city station close by."

At the time of writing one objection has been received from a neighbouring address.
It reads: "The proposed development of flats in this area appears to be excessive and could put undue pressure on services. This includes basic amenities such as water pressure.
"The building of flats so close to my property would also result in a significant loss of privacy."
The plans can be viewed and commented on until October 26.
