A London Colney nursery has submitted plans to expand its premises to allow for an increase in the number of places offered to children.
Little Nightingales Children's Nursery on Barnet Road has made an application for a change of use to the residential unit above the existing nursery.
In a letter accompanying the application, developers DLA Town Planning write: "This proposal would serve the community, relating to an existing nursery that serves the residential areas of London Colney, St Albans and Shenley.
"The conversion of the first floor flat would allow for additional floorspace for the existing business that operates on the site, allowing for an increase in the capacity."

They argue the expansion is necessary by pointing to government plans to increase the amount of childcare provided to parents and the significant demand in places the nursery is expecting for September 2025.
No comments or objections have been received at time of writing.
The plans can be viewed and commented on until October 26.
