The Harpenden Society has invited a young people's mental health expert to a public meeting later this month.

Dr Alison Cowan, the GP lead of Thrive Young Person's Clinic in St Albans and Harpenden, will explain how young people's mental health issues are being addressed locally.

The meeting will take place at Katherine Warington School in Harpenden at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 17.

Parking is free and seats need to be reserved on the society's website at www.harpendensociety.org.

As Hertfordshire Children and Young People's Mental Health Services GP clinical lead, Dr Alison Cowan works closely with children and young people's services in the area to support young patients with their mental health.

Dr Cowan also helps GPs navigate young people's mental health services through training and development of resources.

The Harpenden Society is a charitable organisation that was founded in 1930 to campaign on issues that matter to the people of the town.

Among the society's focuses are the need for new housing, preserving Harpenden's conservation area and historical past, protecting the Green Belt from over-expansion, supporting local businesses, highlighting the impact of excess traffic and airport expansion, taking action on environmental issues and climate change and generating action with campaigns.
