Five road closures will be in place in and around St Albans over the next fortnight.

Two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M25, from 10pm September 23 to 5.30am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M25 Anticlockwise, junction 22 to Junction 21A, lane closure for gantry upgrading works.

A further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M1, from 11pm October 4 to 5.30am October 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, Lane closure for Urgent safety repairs.

• M25, from 10pm October 10 to 5.30am October 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M25 anticlockwise, junction 22 to junction 21A, Lane closure for gantry upgrading.

• A405, from 10pm October 14 to 6am October 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A405 southbound, M25, junction 21A to M1, junction 6, carriageway closure for testing works, diversion via National Highways and local authority roads.

• A405, from 10pm October 14 to 6am October 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A405 southbound, junction M25 to junction M1, carriageway and slip road closure for renewal works, diversion via Local Authorities roads.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
