Kinsbourne Green Post Office, one of three branches in Harpenden, is closed for "operational reasons", with no reopening date in sight.
The branch, located at 393 Luton Road, has been closed on and off throughout this year, with residents growing concerned about its current period of inactivity.
Customers reported seeing the building "closed up" with letters strewn all over the floor.
This newspaper asked the Post Office for information about the future of the branch and were told that no reopening date is set for the branch.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Kinsbourne Green Post Office is temporarily closed for operational reasons.
"We do not currently have a date for the branch to re-open. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure."

Expressing their frustration at the closure, one resident wrote on social media: "It's making a massive difference to so many people in North Harpenden having this branch shut. We now have to drive into town."
Customers nearest branch is now inside the WHSmiths at 28 High Street.
That branch faced its own problems in July, as "access issues" caused it to be closed for over a week, with disappointed customers turned away.
