There are severe delays on trains between London and St Albans today due to a signalling fault.

The issue between St Pancras International and St Albans City station is causing chaos for those looking to travel to and from the capital.

The fault was first reported at around 8am this morning and have since intensified, after staff from Network Rail were delayed in reaching the scene.

With trains running at slower speeds, a build up of trains between St Pancras and St Albans has worsened the situation.

Thameslink has issued advice to passengers, with tickets now being accepted on alternative routes.

These include other Thameslink services towards Stevenage and Hatfield, as well as East Midlands Railway routes between St Pancras, Luton Airport Parkway, Luton and Bedford.

Delays are currently between 20 and 40 minutes, with the issues now impacting trains going from St Albans towards London.
