Road closures in Park Street have been extended, with roadworks now set to last until the end of October.
Villagers have been frustrated by road closures since August 19, as Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) carry out drainage works.
The works were intended to last until the beginning of October.
A letter from HCC was sent to residents yesterday, informing them that due to "unexpected delays", the works would be extended by three weeks.
It states: "Unfortunately, we have experienced unexpected delays due to third-party assets on site, which has led to a revised completion date.
"To ensure the work is completed safely, we need more time to navigate these assets. We appreciate your continued patience as we work to complete the scheduled major drainage works.
The closures will now be in place until October 25.

Park Street road closures to be implemented in phases after resident backlash
The works had originally been for blanket road closures on Watling Street, Radlett Road and Frogmore.
This led to complaints from residents and businesses, who feared the impact of a total shutdown.
As a result, HCC committed a U-turn, staggering the works across five phases in a bid to limit the disruption.
Work has begun on phase four, which involves a closure from Branch Road to Park Street Bridge.
Access to businesses and schools remain open, while diversions are in place on the 601 and 635 buses.
