An award-winning bakery has announced the opening date for its much-anticipated St Albans shop.
Husband and wife team James and Jo-Anne announced plans last month to bring Proto Artisan Bakery to the city, after the success of their shop in Ware.
Its now been confirmed that the shop will open next Saturday (September 28) at 12 Chequer Street.
Announcing the news on social media, the couple said: "It's Official!
Proto St Albans will open it's doors on Saturday, September 28".
"Get ready for all your favourites—flaky pastries, mouth-watering sandwiches, signature sourdough, Detroit-style pizza, and, of course, delicious coffee."
The first 200 customers through the door will receive a free tote bag, which will entitle them to 25p off on all future visits to the shop.

In addition to its array of sourdough options, the bakery offers sausage rolls, mince pies, cinnamon knots and a wide range of other pastries.
James and Jo-Anne's efforts were recognised earlier this year when they were crowned winners of the Hertfordshire category in the 2024 National Bakery Awards.
The existing shop has gone down a storm with many customers commenting that St Albans is in for a treat as "the best bakery in Ware" expands to a new location.
