The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster, has praised a women-only gym in St Albans as an "inspiring initiative".
During a recent visit to HAWA Multicultural Services' gym at Beaumont School, the High Sheriff was impressed by the range of activities on offer and the stories of the women who use the facility.
She said: "The theme for my year is 'Sport for Good' as I am a passionate believer in the benefits it delivers to both our physical and mental health.
"What I saw today epitomises all that is good about being active.
"Well done HAWA MCS on such an inspiring initiative.
"It was wonderful to hear the stories that have brought women to this gym.
"The service you are providing offers tremendous new health and wellbeing opportunities to women from ethnically diverse backgrounds who are all, clearly, absolutely loving it."
