A suspected XL Bully has been seized and a man arrested after a woman was injured following an attack by the dog in Hertfordshire.
On Tuesday, August 20, officers from the local policing team carried out a warrant at an address in Lemsford Road, Hatfield, supported by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Dog Unit.
The dog, which is suspected to be an XL Bully, which is now in the care of the BCH Dog Unit, will be examined to determine the exact breed.
PC Mitchell Cartwright of the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "I hope this reassures the public that we are always listening to your concerns. The reports that residents made allowed us to build up a picture of intelligence so that we could secure the warrant.
"The dog is now being cared for by our BCH Dog Unit."
Police are also appealing for information following an incident where a dog reportedly bit a woman inside the premises of Clayton House, Lemsford road. The female victim sustained puncture wounds to the knee and required hospital treatment.
A man in his 50s was arrested in connection with the incident and has subsequently been released on bail while enquiries continue.
