St Albans boxer Christian Fetti is full of confidence as he prepares for his second professional fight.

The 22-year-old will take on Joshua Ocampo at London's York Hall on September 6, with the bout taking place on the undercard of the Sam Noakes vs Gianluca Ceglia fight.

Christian - who scored a points victory over Eliecer Quezeda on his professional debut back in April - sat down with this newspaper ahead of the fight.

Beginning with reflections on the time that's passed since that initial victory, he said: "I'm a lot more relaxed than I was before the first fight. I'm more accustomed to the bright lights this time.

"The experience of the first fight was both phenomenal and surreal and I'm even more excited about the second fight."

While some boxers like to make predictions about their contests, Christian won't be drawn into making a mystic proclamation, but says that "nobody dreams of winning on points, I train to knock people out and be explosive and that's what I'm looking for."

The bout marks a return to the intimate venue of York Hall in East London, an arena that Christian describes as a "colosseum".

But the ambitious fighter has his sights set even bigger, hoping to compete on a card at the O2 Arena before long.

His dream venue is Madison Square Garden, regarded by fight fans as the 'mecca' of the sport.

He also has his eye on the glamorous 'super-cards' that have begun to take place in Saudi Arabia.

Closer to home, Christian feels pride at being the one of the only boxers  to represent St Albans, following in the footsteps of former Commonwealth Games champion Sean Murphy.

He said: "Representing St Albans is lovely, being the first professional from here since Sean Murphy is a big responsibility but a nice honour."

Christian recently signed a multi-fight deal with Queensbury Promotions, joining forces with legendary promoter Frank Warren, a man whose stable of fighters includes Tyson Fury.

He explains: "I was approached by a manager after the first fight and got to go and sit down with Frank - obviously it was a no-brainer to snap that deal up.

"It was surreal meeting him, I was a bit starstruck. You're left just imagining all the names have sat on these seats in the past."

His dad Stuart said: "This is what the dream was, going from a gym in St Albans to signing a deal with Frank Warren and fighting on TV.

"I'm a very proud Dad. This is a sport that takes so much commitment, there's no easy road and it's all on you, it's not like a football match where there's 10 other players on the pitch."

Christian and Stuart attribute his success to years spent training at St Albans & London Colney ABC and the work put in by all the volunteers there.

Christian remains as confident as he was when he declared a year ago that he would become world champion, believing he will reach the top of the sport within five years.

He says his dream opponent would be World Boxing Association lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, saying that a bout against the American would be a case of "idol turned rival."

His message to fans ahead of the fight is: "September 6 will be an exciting night and I'll put on a show for people to enjoy. I appreciate all of my fans and they can expect an explosive night."

The bout will be screened live on TNT Sports and Discovery +.
