An award-winning bakery is set to bring its sourdough and pastries to St Albans, after announcing plans to open a shop in the city.
Proto Artisan Bakery was set up during the pandemic by husband and wife team James and Jo-Anne.
They opened a shop in Ware, offering a range of sourdoughs and baked goods to customers.
After the success of the Ware branch, they're expanding to St Albans, announcing plans for a second venue in the town centre, with an official opening date expected to be announced soon.

Announcing the news on social media, they said: We are so happy to announce that all of your favourite, pastries, sandwiches, sourdough , Detroit style pizza and coffee will be coming to St Albans very soon!"
As well as an impressive array of sourdough options, the bakery offers sausage rolls, mince pies, cinnamon knots and a wide range of other pastries.
James and Jo-Anne's efforts were recognised earlier this year when they were crowned winners of the Hertfordshire category in the 2024 National Bakery Awards.
Plans for the St Albans branch were ongoing for a while before yesterday's official announcement, with hopes that the city's newest bakery could open its doors sooner rather than later.
