Police have been unable to find a suspect after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly hit by a van in St Albans.

The incident occurred at around 3.15pm on July 17 near Loreto College, where the girl is a pupil.

She was allegedly knocked over by the car-sized van, with police confirming that she was taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Posting on social media, her mother has claimed that the driver didn't get out of the car to check she was OK, instead "having a go at" the child before driving off.

She was left "sore and shaken" by the experience and suffered bruises, but managed to escape without any broken bones.

The incident was reported to both police and the school, but no suspect has been identified, despite pleas on social media.

A spokesperson for Herts police said: "At this time, all lines of enquiry have been exhausted and no suspect has been identified.

"Should any new investigative opportunities become available, they will be acted upon accordingly."
