A small business based in Radlett has won an award for its CBD (cannabidiol) body oil product.

Taylor's CBD, owned by Jacqui Taylor, won the best body oil category at the Woman & Home Magazine Clever Skincare Awards.

Jacqui, who previously worked as a secondary school teacher in the area, launched her business in November 2023.

She told this newspaper that it was "wonderful" to be recognised by the judges, and that the award was "really important" to her as the owner of a new business.

Judges described the body oil as "a soothing treat for body and mind" that "will intensely nourish dry skin while providing a relaxing scent that's infused with lavender, eucalyptus and CBD".

Other brands that took home gongs included Cetaphil, Garnier, Beauty Pie, E45 and Charlotte Tilbury.

Jacqui said that she started her business after seriously hurting her back in the gym one day: "I was in so much pain I was reaching for the painkillers."

"I started to research CBD as a natural anti-inflammatory and the business grew out of that.

"I knew that I wanted a business that could help people who had aches and pains but
also needed and wanted to get on with their lives."

And, while the first year in business "is always hard", Jacqui has found the help of local experts including a graphic designer and a printer to be "invaluable".

"I was also lucky to gain a place at the University of Hertfordshire's Enterprise Hub which has expanded my business knowledge as well as providing mentorship," she added.
