Polling day has finally arrived and the Herts Ad will be bringing you all the latest as the results pour in from the General Election.

A lot has changed locally and nationally since the last election in 2019 and tonight could see big movements across the county and the country.

Tonight we'll be with you live from Batchwood Sports Centre for not one,but two counts.

In St Albans, Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper seeks to return to Parliament, defending the seat she won from the Conservatives five years ago.

Following a boundary review, a new constituency for Harpenden and Berkhamsted was created. Previously, the Hitchin and Harpenden seat was held by Conservative Bim Afolami, who will be standing in Hitchin.  

Whatever happens we'll bringing you the all the results, reaction and more, as well as keeping an eye on the national picture.

In St Albans the candidates are: Daisy Cooper(Liberal Democrat),James Spencer (Conservative), Sophia Adams Bhatti (Labour), Simon Grover (Green), John Dowdle (Reform UK), Dafydd Morriss (Heritage Party) and Stewart Satterly (Social Democratic Party).

In Harpenden and Berkhamsted you can vote for: Victoria Collins (Liberal Democrat), Nigel Gardner (Conservative), Zara Layne (Labour), Saba Poursaeedi (Reform UK), Paul de Hoest (Green) and Mark Patten (Social Democratic Party).

Polls are open now and will close at 10pm.
