A St Albans resident has expressed his dismay after 'drunken students' turned a popular park into an 'eyesore'
He suspects that with exam season coming to an end, students took to Verulamium Park to celebrate their freedom.
The celebrations left a bad taste in the mouth of Andrew Fusi, who was disappointed at the scene he found in the aftermath.
He told the Herts Ad that the picture's don't tell the full story, claiming that the whole field was "strewn with plastic bottles and glasses".
He said: "It seems local students were making the most of their freedom, which is understandable, but to leave the field in such a mess is unforgivable.
"It's obvious there are plenty of bins around but this was a deliberate act of littering."
He issued a scathing remark to students, saying: "I hope you passed your physics exams because you have abjectly failed on the environmental test."

Responding, Chris Traill, strategic director, community and place delivery at St Albans City and District Council, said: “It is fabulous to see people enjoying our parks and open spaces and I am sure they will become busier during the warmer summer weather and school holidays .
“We ask people not to littler and to clean up after themselves if they are socialising in a large group.
“The vast majority of park users do so and it is a shame when some spoil it for others by not properly disposing of their rubbish.
“Litter is unsightly, bad for the environment and a potential hazard to wildlife while debris such as broken glass can present a danger to young children.
“Our park rangers do a fantastic job in keeping our parks tidy and at this busy time of the year, they carry out extra bin-emptying rounds.
“Verulamium Park and our other open spaces are wonderful community assets and we want to keep them in excellent condition for the benefit of all our residents.”
