St Albans first-ever all women's boxing club has launched with the aim of empowering women and teaching self-defence.
Queen Bee Boxing launched earlier this month, inspired by the rising popularity of women's boxing, notably the rise of undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor.
The newly-founded club hopes to give women in the area the chance to embrace boxing as a means of fitness, self-defence, and personal empowerment.
Founders Nadia Finer and Isabel Kelly are both fully qualified boxing coaches and want to promote women's empowerment.
Queen Bee Boxing aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where women of all ages and fitness levels can learn the fundamentals of boxing, enhance their physical fitness, and build up their confidence.
Isabel said: "Our mission is to create a space where women can challenge themselves, break barriers, and unleash their inner strength through the art of boxing. We are thrilled to bring this empowering opportunity to the women of St Albans."
The founders believe that boxing serves as a gateway to numerous benefits for mental and physical health. The sport has been shown to have positive effects on mental health, providing participants with an outlet to let off steam, express themselves, and find relief from stress and anxiety.
Nadia said: “Boxing has changed our lives for the better. It’s given us confidence and self belief. It’s helped us fight mental and physical health challenges and now we want to share our sport with as many other women and teenage girls as possible.”
Isabel and Nadia are keen to reassure people that boxing is for everyone, saying: “Our training is for complete beginners, we have all the equipment you need to get started, oh, and we hit punch bags, not each other, so it’s completely safe and suitable for all ages and fitness levels.”
