A driver has been arrested and his passenger taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash near London Colney.
At around 11.40pm last night (Sunday, May 5) a vehicle collided with the A414 North Orbital Road's central reservation.
Hertfordshire police, the East of England Ambulance Service and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service all attended the scene.
Both carriageways were closed between the London Colney and Hatfield roundabouts.
A man was hospitalised with serious injuries and the driver - a 36-year-old man from Maidenhead - was taken into custody on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Police were travelling along the A414 in London Colney last night (Sunday, May 5) when a vehicle collided with the central reservation.
"The ambulance service was called alongside the fire and rescue service.
