In St Albans city centre, a new 14-flat development could see existing shops and buildings replaced.

Proposals would see the demolition of existing buildings at 63-65 St Peter's Street for two new retail units to be created, along with 14 residential dwellings.

Further landscaping and alterations would also take place.

Jennings Bet, which currently occupies 63 St Peter's Street, has already applied to occupy the neighbouring Emmaus Workshop unit at 61 St Peter's Street.

DM Jewellers currently occupies 65 St Peter's Street, which would be demolished should plans be accepted.

In July 2023, permission was granted for the demolition of existing buildings and provision of three retail units and 22 residential dwellings at the site.

A planning statement for the newly submitted plans reads: "The main change is the removal of number 61 from the proposed development.
