A man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire in Borehamwood which caused an estimated £3 million worth of damage.
Perry Aldrich, of Stratfield Road, Borehamwood, was charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, following a blaze at Balmoral Drive on August 12, 2022.
The 25-year-old appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 26, with the case now transferred to St Albans Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, February 27.
It is alleged that garden waste was set alight, causing fire to spread to a nearby block of flats. No one was seriously injured.
Gardens and sheds were also damaged during the incident.
A police investigation was subsequently launched by the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit.
