The headteacher of a St Albans nursery school has said he feels "privileged" after the setting received an 'outstanding' Ofsted rating.
Fleetville Infant and Nursery School was given top marks in all five areas assessed, following its inspection in December.
The school's headteacher Jen Gardner was "delighted" with the result: "It is such a privilege to lead Fleetville Infant and Nursery School and we are delighted to achieve an 'outstanding' rating from Ofsted in our recent inspection, which took place just before the Christmas break.
"I work with such a skilled, dedicated, and reflective team, and together we have created an incredibly positive and nurturing learning environment for the children.
"It is also an extremely supportive and rewarding working environment for staff.
"Inspectors were impressed with the high quality of governance from our Local School Committee and the board of trustees.
"Our parents and local Fleetville community also play a vital role in the success of the school and their support has been overwhelming. We are all delighted with the outcome!"
The school's report highlighted the "exemplary" work carried out on pupil's personal development, with a "rich range of clubs, visits and other experiences" available.
The report continued: "Pupils love attending this school.
"An exceptionally positive atmosphere threads through all aspects of school life. Pupils treat each other with the utmost respect and kindness.
"The high-quality school curriculum is underpinned by robust staff training.

Fleetville Infant and Nursery School is part of the Spiral Partnership Trust, along with Fleetville Junior School and six other establishments.
