Two men have been charged with burglary after jewellery was stolen from a home in Hemel Hempstead.
Christopher Green, 41, of Victoria Terrace in London, has been charged with burglary and possession of a controlled Class B drug, namely cannabis.
Gerrard Cash, 25, of Brackenfield Close in London, has been charged with burglary.
Both appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 4, where they were remanded into custody.
They are set to appear at Luton Crown Court on Monday, February 5.
At around 7pm on Tuesday, January 2, police were informed that a property in Grasmere Close had been broken into, with officers immediately dispatched to the scene.
A second call was also made to police reporting that unknown males had been spotted in a nearby garden.
The two men were subsequently arrested in Crossfell Road by officers from the Intervention Team and taken into police custody.
The jewellery was recovered and confirmed to belong to the victim.
"This is an excellent example of how reporting suspicious activity to police straightaway can lead to positive results," said Sergeant Chris Hulian, from the Intervention Team.
"Two people were detained less than 15 minutes after the initial call was made and the case is now set to progress through the court."
